Federico Fischer Castells was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on July 14, 1990. Attorney at Law. He graduated from the School of Law of the University of Montevideo, and was admitted to the Uruguayan Bar in 2014.

He was selected as a member of the team that represented the School of Law of the University of Montevideo in the renowned International Arbitration Moot “Annual Wilhelm C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot 2011- 2012”, Vienna, Austria (2012)”.
He was also a member of the University of Montevideo team that participated in the International Commercial Arbitration Moot organized by the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Rosario, Colombia, in 2011.
Mr. Federico Fischer Castells also attended the Postgraduate course on Patent Law, organized by the Uruguayan Bar Association on 2014.
He also undertook, at the Post-Graduate Center of the University of Montevideo, the Practical Course on Intellectual Property Law.
Since 2014, Mr. Fischer Castells is an Assistant Professor of Administrative Law Courses I and II at the School of Law of the University of Montevideo.He is a member of the Interamerican Intellectual Property Association (ASIPI), and the International Trademark Association (INTA), and regularly attends their congresses and meetings.
Mr. Federico Fischer Castells is actively involved, on behalf of both international and local companies, in the areas of Intellectual Property (Trademarks, Copyright and Entertainment Law), Patentes, Corporate Law, Regulatory and Public Law, Enforcement and Litigation.
He has assisted domestic and international clients in local and cross-border cases and transactions; advised on take-over of IP assets and conducted due diligence of IP rights. Advises foreign clients on license, franchise and distribution operations and agreements; provided legal opinions on IP aspects of clients´ business and affairs in the local marketplace. Acted in inter-partes IP proceedings in opposition and appeal cases before the Trademark Office, the appellate authority, and before the High Administrative Court; acted on behalf of domestic and foreign companies in proceedings involving defense and recovery of IP assets. Advised clients on Latin American filing, protection and enforcement of foreign IP portfolios. He has advised also on privacy and data protection law, enforcement of IP rights in the Internet, due diligence of IP rights, licensing and franchising, anticounterfeiting, ambush marketing, and patent litigation.
Before joining Fischer Abogados, Mr. Federico Fischer Castells worked at a prestigious general practice Law Firm in Montevideo, Uruguay (Hughes & Hughes), where he advised on Commercial and Corporate Law.
Mr. Federico Fischer Castells was appointed to the Parallel Imports Committee – South American Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) for period 2016-2017.
He has been appointed by INTA to the Trademark Office Practices Committee for period 2018-2019.
He is the recipient of a full award to the Latin American Training Center (LATC) 2017 Entertainment, Business and Legal Affairs Program in partnership with the American Bar Association (ABA) and the University of Miami School of Law.
